Step One:
Gather all ingredients. Click here for a list of ingredients. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Grease a 9-by-13-inch glass baking dish with butter.

Step Two:
Start by washing 9 apples, then peel, core, and thinly chop them. You can use this apple peeler, corer and spiralizer. What I like about this one is that it has a powerful rubber vacuum base that holds onto the tabletop for stability. If you want to make the apple crisp now and you don’t have a peeler like this then you can use a common potato peeler or knife to peel the apples. You can also use OXO Good Grips Apple Slicer, Corer and Divider after you peel them. If you use the OXO Apple Slicer then you will need to cut the apple chunks into 3 to 4 more pieces so they cook evenly.
Once apples are prepared, mix together in a bowl the granulated sugar, flour (1 heaping tbsp), cinnamon and salt.

Step Three:
Arrange the apple slices in the prepared baking dish in an even layer. Sprinkle the mixture over the apples, then pour ½ cup of water over the top. Fold apples into each other until the apples are coated evenly.

Step Four:
For the topping: In a separate bowl mix the flour, oats, brown sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Mix together well making sure the brown sugar is broken apart. Also, melt the butter.

Step Five:
Slowly stir in melted butter to the dry mixture making sure everything is mixed thoroughly.

Step Six:
Sprinkle by hand the topping in an even layer over the apples.

Step Seven:
Bake until the topping is slightly crisp and golden brown, about 45 minutes. Let it sit for 15 to 20 minutes to thicken up. Serve warm on its own or topped with some French Vanilla ice cream and enjoy!
